Explore Choquequirao, a lesser-known but equally stunning Inca city surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. This 4-day trek takes you through deep valleys, canyons, and Andean mountains to this majestic archaeological site, offering a serene and immersive experience far from the crowds.

ITINERARY

Departure from Cusco
Start the journey with an early morning departure from Cusco. Travel approximately 4 hours by private transport to the village of Cachora, and then continue to Capuliyoc (2,900 m), the starting point of the trek.

Hike to Chiquisca
Descend into the Apurímac Canyon from Capuliyoc, enjoying panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and the canyon. The trail is surrounded by diverse flora and fauna, including the chance to spot condors soaring above. Overnight camping in Chiquisca.

Ascent to Marampata
Begin the day with a descent to Playa Rosalina (1,500 m), crossing the Apurímac River. From here, start a challenging uphill trek to Marampata (2,850 m), with stunning views of the canyon.

Arrival at Choquequirao
After resting in Marampata, continue hiking to Choquequirao (3,050 m). Set up camp near the archaeological site, where you’ll prepare to explore the city the following day.

Full Day at Choquequirao
Spend the entire day exploring Choquequirao, which spans over 1,800 hectares. Highlights include agricultural terraces, ceremonial plazas, and the iconic terraces adorned with llama carvings. The peaceful atmosphere allows for a deeply personal connection with the site.

Return to Marampata
After exploring Choquequirao, return to Marampata and camp overnight.

Return Hike to Capuliyoc
Begin with a descent to Playa Rosalina, followed by an uphill hike back to Capuliyoc. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the return journey.

Transport to Cusco
From Capuliyoc, take private transport back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
