ITINERARY
Departure from Cusco
We leave early from Cusco to the town of Cachora in private transport, a journey of about 4 hours. From Cachora, we continue to Capuliyoc (2,900 meters), the starting point of our trek.
Hike to Chiquisca
From Capuliyoc, we begin the trek descending to Chiquisca (1,900 meters), passing through breathtaking landscapes with views of the deep Apurímac River canyon. Along the way, enjoy the region’s flora, fauna, and views of the snow-capped Padreyoc Mountain.
Ascent to Marampata
We start early with a descent to Playa Rosalina (1,500 meters), where we’ll cross the Apurímac River. From there, we begin a challenging ascent to the community of Marampata (2,850 meters). This section is one of the toughest of the trek, but the views of the canyon and surrounding mountains make it worthwhile.
Camp at Marampata
We arrive at Marampata in the afternoon and set up camp. From this point, you’ll have your first views of Choquequirao in the distance.
Exploration of Choquequirao
This day is dedicated to fully exploring Choquequirao (3,050 meters), an archaeological site covering over 1,800 hectares. Discover terraces, temples, plazas, and nearly untouched Inca structures. The llama-shaped terraces carved into the mountainside are a highlight of the site.
Free Time and Camp at Marampata
After exploring Choquequirao, we return to Marampata to rest and spend the night at camp. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings and breathtaking scenery.
Descent to Playa Rosalina and Chiquisca
After breakfast, we descend from Marampata to Playa Rosalina, crossing the Apurímac River again. From there, we ascend to Chiquisca, where we’ll set up camp for the night.
Return to Capuliyoc and Back to Cusco
Early in the morning, we begin the final ascent from Chiquisca to Capuliyoc. Along this last stretch, enjoy panoramic views of the canyon and mountains. At Capuliyoc, private transport will take us back to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.
