ITINERARY

Departure from Cusco
We’ll leave early from Cusco in private transport to the town of Mollepata (2,900 meters), where you’ll enjoy breakfast before continuing to Soraypampa (3,900 meters), the starting point of the trek.

Hike to Humantay Lake
From Soraypampa, we’ll hike for about 2 hours to the stunning Humantay Lake, a turquoise glacial lake surrounded by snowy peaks. After enjoying the breathtaking views, we’ll return to our camp at Soraypampa, where you’ll spend the first night under the stars.

Ascent to Salkantay Pass
The second day is the most challenging. We’ll start early to ascend to the Salkantay Pass (4,630 meters), the highest point of the trek. The climb takes about 3-4 hours, and at the summit, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of Mount Salkantay (6,271 meters), one of the most sacred peaks for the Incas.

Descent to Chaullay
After enjoying the summit, we’ll descend to Chaullay (2,900 meters), passing through changing landscapes as we transition from high mountains to the cloud forest. We’ll camp in Chaullay for the night.

Hike Through the Cloud Forest
On this day, we’ll leave the high mountain landscapes behind and enter the lush cloud forest. We’ll hike along the Santa Teresa River valley, passing waterfalls and small local communities. Along the way, we’ll stop at Colpapampa and reach La Playa for lunch.

Transport to Santa Teresa
After lunch, a private transport will take us to Santa Teresa (1,550 meters), famous for its hot springs. You’ll have the option to relax and enjoy a soothing bath (optional). We’ll spend the night at a campsite or a basic lodge in Santa Teresa.

Optional: Zipline in Santa Teresa
In the morning, you’ll have the option to experience ziplining in Santa Teresa. This activity offers a spectacular aerial view of the valley and river below.

Hike to Hidroeléctrica
After the optional activity, we’ll take a transport to Hidroeléctrica (1,900 meters), where we’ll begin our hike to Aguas Calientes (2,040 meters). This section follows the train tracks through the jungle, offering views of the Urubamba River and glimpses of Machu Picchu in the distance.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes
In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Aguas Calientes, where you’ll check into a hotel, enjoy dinner, and rest for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, we’ll take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu (2,430 meters). You’ll enjoy a 2-3 hour guided tour of the main highlights of the Inca citadel, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the agricultural terraces.

Free Time and Return to Cusco
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore further or hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (advance reservation required). Later, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and take the train back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
