ITINERARY
Reception in Cusco
Upon arrival at Cusco Airport, we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. It’s recommended to rest and acclimate to the altitude (3,400 meters).
Afternoon City Tour
In the afternoon, we’ll start the City Tour, visiting key archaeological and colonial attractions:
- Cusco Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas.
- Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun): The most important temple of the Inca Empire.
- Sacsayhuamán: A fortress with impressive stone structures.
- Qenqo: An Inca ceremonial center.
- Puca Pucara: An ancient military outpost.
- Tambomachay: Known for its Inca fountains.
Pisac: Archaeological Site and Artisan Market
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Pisac, where you’ll explore its Inca agricultural terraces and vibrant artisan market, famous for its textiles, jewelry, and local crafts.
Lunch in Urubamba
We’ll stop for a buffet lunch in Urubamba, offering a variety of Andean dishes.
Visit to Ollantaytambo
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the incredible fortress of Ollantaytambo, an Inca site that still retains its original structure. Its terraces, temples, and views of the valley are unforgettable.
Train to Aguas Calientes
Later, we’ll take a train to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. You’ll arrive in the evening to rest and prepare for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
At dawn, we’ll take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu. You’ll enjoy a guided tour exploring the citadel’s highlights, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the terraces.
Free Time in Machu Picchu
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore further, take photos, or hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (advance reservation required).
Train Back to Cusco
In the afternoon, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a private transfer to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
Take this day to relax, explore Cusco at your leisure, or participate in optional activities such as visiting museums, artisan markets, or simply enjoying the city’s charm.
Early Departure from Cusco
We’ll leave Cusco early (around 4:30 a.m.) in private transport. The 3-hour journey takes you to the base of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Andes.
Hike to Rainbow Mountain
We’ll begin the hike to Rainbow Mountain, a moderate ascent of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The mountain is renowned for its vibrant natural colors, caused by mineral deposits. From the summit, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Andes and the majestic Ausangate Glacier.
Return to Cusco
After soaking in the views and taking photos, we’ll descend the mountain and return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 p.m.
