ITINERARY

Departure from Cusco
Early in the morning, we depart Cusco for Km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail. The private transport ride takes approximately 3 hours, passing through the Sacred Valley and stopping briefly in Ollantaytambo for last-minute supplies.

Start of the Trek
At Km 82 (2,700 meters), we begin our trek along the legendary Inca Trail. The first day is relatively gentle, taking us through agricultural landscapes and small settlements while following the Urubamba River.

Camp at Wayllabamba
After about 6 hours of trekking, we arrive at our first campsite in Wayllabamba (3,000 meters). Here, we set up tents for the night. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Mount Veronica.

Ascent to Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass)
The second day is the most challenging. We start early and ascend to the famous Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,200 meters, the highest point of the Inca Trail. The climb is tough but rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys.

Descent to Pacaymayo
After reaching the summit and taking a well-deserved rest, we descend to Pacaymayo (3,600 meters), where we set up camp for the night. This location offers a serene environment surrounded by mountains.

Archaeological Sites Along the Trail
The third day is the longest but also the most scenic. We begin with a climb to Runkurakay Pass (3,950 meters), where you can admire stunning views of the Andes. The trail then descends to the archaeological sites of Runkurakay and Sayacmarca, both of which were once Inca checkpoints.

Phuyupatamarca Pass and Wiñay Wayna
The trail continues through cloud forest landscapes, passing Phuyupatamarca (3,670 meters), also known as the “Place Above the Clouds.” We then descend to Wiñay Wayna (2,650 meters), one of the most beautiful Inca sites on the trail, with agricultural terraces and stunning valley views. We camp here for our final night.

Hike to the Sun Gate
We start very early for a short hike to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you’ll catch your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu at sunrise. This is one of the most memorable moments of the trek.

Guided Tour in Machu Picchu
After enjoying the view from the Sun Gate, we descend to the Machu Picchu citadel for a guided tour (2-3 hours) of the main highlights, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the agricultural terraces.

Return to Cusco
After the tour, we take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, private transport will take you back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
