ITINERARY
Early departure from Cusco
Start the day with an early morning departure from Cusco to Mollepata (approx. 3 hours). After a hearty breakfast, continue by vehicle to Soraypampa, the starting point of the trek.
Hike to Humantay Lagoon
Begin the trek with a 2-hour ascent to the stunning Humantay Lagoon, a turquoise glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. After enjoying the views, return to Soraypampa to camp for the night.
scent to Salkantay Pass
Begin early to tackle the Salkantay Pass (4,630 meters), the trek’s highest point. This 3-4 hour climb rewards you with breathtaking views of the majestic Salkantay Glacier.
Descent to Chaullay
After the pass, descend into lush valleys and forests, ending the day at the camp in Chaullay.
Hike through the Cloud Forest
Transition into warmer, greener landscapes as you trek through the cloud forest, passing small villages and plantations of coffee, fruit, and exotic vegetation. Camp for the night at La Playa.
Hike to Aguas Calientes
Continue downhill to Hidroelectrica, where you’ll have lunch. From there, follow the train tracks through lush jungle scenery to Aguas Calientes, the base town of Machu Picchu. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel and enjoy a well-deserved dinner.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
In the early morning, take the bus to Machu Picchu for a 2-3 hour guided tour of the iconic Inca citadel. Explore highlights such as the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, and agricultural terraces.
Return to Cusco
After some free time to explore on your own, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Take the train to Ollantaytambo and transfer back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
