ITINERARY
Reception in Cusco
Upon arrival at Cusco Airport, we’ll pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in the historic center. Take some time to rest and acclimate to the altitude (3,400 meters).
Afternoon City Tour
In the afternoon, we’ll begin the City Tour, exploring Cusco’s main archaeological and colonial sites:
- Cusco Cathedral: Famous for its blend of colonial architecture and Andean influences.
- Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun): The most important temple of the Inca Empire, now part of Santo Domingo Convent.
- Sacsayhuamán: A fortress with massive stone structures and spectacular views of Cusco.
- Qenqo: A ceremonial center with an underground labyrinth.
- Puca Pucara: An ancient military outpost.
- Tambomachay: Known as the “Bath of the Inca,” with aqueducts and fountains.
Visit to Pisac and Artisan Market
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The first stop is Pisac, where you’ll explore its impressive archaeological site and vibrant artisan market, renowned for its textiles, jewelry, and ceramics.
Lunch in Urubamba
We’ll continue to Urubamba for a buffet lunch featuring typical Andean dishes.
Ollantaytambo: The Inca Fortress
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca city where you’ll explore its majestic fortress and agricultural terraces. The town retains its original urban planning from the Inca era.
Train to Aguas Calientes
After visiting Ollantaytambo, we’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. You’ll arrive in the evening and settle into your hotel to rest before the big day.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, we’ll take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a 2-3 hour guided tour, covering key areas like the Temple of the Sun, the Main Square, and the terraces.
Free Time in Machu Picchu
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore further, take photos, or hike to Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu (optional, advance reservation required).
Train Back to Cusco
We’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. From there, a private transfer will bring you back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Morning Free in Cusco
You’ll have the morning free to explore Cusco at your own pace. Visit artisan markets, relax in the city’s squares, or simply enjoy the beauty of the historic center.
Transfer to the Airport
A private transfer will take you to Cusco Airport for your flight back, depending on your departure time.
